Australian clean technology company Pure One Corporation LTD has confirmed the latest deployment of its hydrogen fuel cell waste collection trucks in partnership with leading waste management company Solo Resource Recovery. Delivered as part of an existing supply agreement, the vehicles will be deployed in council waste collection operations in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia.
The vehicles will be trialled by Solo as part of its contracted recycling collection services for Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton and Lake Macquarie, providing an opportunity to evaluate hydrogen fuel cell technology in established municipal operations.
The deployment represents Pure One and Solo’s commitment to zero-emission vehicle solutions and sustainability. The trials will provide real-world operational experience in the waste management sector and demonstrate the company's ability to supply specialised zero-emission heavy vehicles for Australian fleet operators.
Hydrogen-powered waste collection vehicles enter service
The deployment includes a hydrogen fuel cell side-loading waste collection truck built on an TG23-H110 dual-control chassis, fitted with a Rico Recovery Systems compaction body. The side loader features zero tailpipe emissions, modern safety systems, and specialised waste collection technology designed for kerbside bin collection.
Both trucks were on display at the Lake Macquarie Living Smart festival in September before commencing operations within the Hunter Valley region during mid-October 2026, continuing through until the end of December 2026.
The main focus of this operational trial was the kerbside collection of co-mingled recycling bins across the council areas of Cessnock, Maitland, Singleton, and Lake Macquarie, with future deployment arrangements to be determined following the trial period.
The program provides Pure One with an opportunity to demonstrate hydrogen fuel cell technology in waste collection operations, where vehicle reliability, operating efficiency and compatibility with existing services are important considerations.
